Adventure Overview:

Experience Switzerland in a way few travelers ever will. Join MacLean Adventures in September 2027 for an extraordinary 15-day Swiss Steam Adventure combining some of Switzerland’s most spectacular railways, historic steam locomotives, mountain excursions, breathtaking Alpine scenery, exceptional food and wine, and special behind-the-scenes experiences.

This is not your typical escorted tour. We are working with our friends and contacts in Switzerland to create a unique rail adventure with opportunities and access that the average visitor simply doesn’t experience. Our journey is planned to take us from Zurich to Luzern, Wengen and the Swiss Riviera, traveling through some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe.

A RAIL ADVENTURE THROUGH SWITZERLAND
Our planned experiences include the Brienz Rothorn Railway, Furka Steam Railway, Rigi Mountain Railway, GoldenPass Line, Swiss Vapeur Parc, Lake Brienz paddle steamer, Stanserhorn, Schynige Platte, and visits to historic railway facilities and museums. Along the way, we are working to arrange special experiences including railway shop tours, behind-the-scenes access, driver’s cab rides, historic railway equipment, special cable-car experiences, and opportunities to meet some of the people who operate and preserve Switzerland’s remarkable railway heritage.

MORE THAN TRAINS
Even if you love trains, Switzerland is about much more than railways. This Adventure of a Lifetime is a must for those that just want to experience Switzerland. Throughout our Adventure, we’ll combine our railway experiences with Swiss wines, regional cuisine, locally made cheese, mountain restaurants, historic hotels and unforgettable Alpine scenery. Oh, and don’t forget chocolate! Planned highlights include a private reception at Chalet Margaux in Wengen, the chalet of your tour hosts, Hawley and Jill, wine tasting, an exclusive cheese and schnapps tasting in a historic cheese cellar, meals overlooking the Alps, and a wine-pairing dinner overlooking the Swiss Riviera hosted by one of the world’s top sommeliers, Jérôme Aké Béda. There will also be time to simply enjoy Switzerland—the villages, mountains, lakes and people that make it one of our favorite places in the world.

Note that Airfare is not included. A complete final itinerary and pricing will be provided as arrangements are finalized.

This will be a small group and space will be limited. If you are seriously interested in joining us, we are now accepting a $500 PER PERSON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. Your $500 per person refundable deposit reserves your place on the Swiss Steam Adventure while we finalize the itinerary and pricing. Final pricing will be provided soon, once we have the minimum number of interested travelers needed to finalize the trip.
